If you're player struggling in the NCAA and you have pro hockey aspirations, the best path is to work harder to become an effective NCAA player so you're ready to turn pro in a few years.
If you don't have pro hockey aspirations, the best path is to stick with the program, enjoy playing hockey, get your degree, and be ready to transition your life after graduating.
Regardless of the player's goal, going back to the CHL as a 19 or 20 year old doesn't make sense.
It's a bit unfortunate the Flames signed Basha and Battaglia so quick. The NCAA would have been a great spot for them to develop.
I suspect the Flames will want more of their prospects developing in the NCAA considering there is only so much ice time to go around on the Wranglers. It's better if players can atleast play their junior season before turning pro.
