Didn’t he even say the concern wasn’t defence but rather thinking the game at NHL speed? For example, make your pass or take your shot faster become the moment passes.

I think it was about anticipation in general. In junior his ability makes up for seeing the plays ahead of time, both offensively and defensively. When he got caught in the NHL was usually when he was up on the play and didn't recognize the developing play going the other way. Hopefully that improves, and I think it will.
He does look casual at the junior level, because the game there is a great tempo for him. So in the NHL he will have to gear up, and eventually the game will seem slower for him and that's when he will really shine.
