These teams ice lines with roles, just like NHL teams do. If a player isn’t good enough to crack the top six, they need be able to kill penalties and take defensive assignments against top lines.

If the US is down by a goal, Cole Caufield would be a great guy to have on the ice. All he’s done all year is score big goals to get his team back in games. Not to mention his prowess in extra time. I don’t expect a Caufield or Robertson on the ice late up a goal, but I’d sure like them there if they’re trailing.
