I think some people really over think the whole "risk an injury" angle.
- Injuries really do not happen that often and even if they did, there is still more than half of the season left for him to recover and contribute in the playoffs.
- If the other team is getting Andersson with an extension they are thinking about a 9 year plan, not in days, weeks, or months. The trade would probably still go through.

Also, until the call is officially made, it hasn't happened. From a coaching standpoint, Andersson is one of your best players so you should keep playing him until he is not on your roster anymore. Until the paperwork is done there is always something that could cancel the trade, so you keep playing Andersson until a trade is finalized.

Keep in mind that sometimes players end up getting traded mid-game. It doesn't always follow a formula of sitting a player until the paperwork goes through.
If Conroy expected the trade to go through at any time on Sunday, he would not allow Rasmus to take the ice. Doesn't matter what the coach thinks. There is no guarantee he will be traded with a sign and trade; if he's a rental, any significant injury tonight would absolutely torpedo his value.
