Worrying was the wrong word to use. In general, the 6-8th best players in a recent draft don’t get traded but it does happen occasionally. Minnesota just threw a player in the Hughes trade that was drafted in the same draft as a Iginla and might be better than him. The Flames picked a player in the same draft who I think will be better than him. But on this board it would require a huge return, probably would for Utah as well given that he was their first ever pick.
Utah did trade their 11th overall pick from the 2022 draft, plus a bunch of other assets in 2024 for Sergachev so for me the right answer is Iginla is added to other assets to get a top dman under contract or a top forward under contract. That seems to be what happens with those types of players.
Probably a trade like Iginla + + for a good player under contract is how a guy like that gets moved.
