Jonathan Drouin, Seth Jones and Elias Lindholm didn't hammer home the point you were trying to make?

The most talent is at the top of the draft, the very top. Once you're out of that 1-2 range you typically have great talent but needs work. Outside of that it just keeps dropping. Stop pretending that the best way of getting potential star players isn't drafting at the top of the draft. Hell even that isn't a guarantee, but it's the best bet.

Trying to sneak in picks theee four and fifth overall to make your point is just ruins the credibility of your argument
Ok? Jonathan Toews was drafted 3rd, Backstrom was a 4th, Stutzle is arguably the best of the top 3 in his year, Heiskanen was a 3rd and Makar was a 4th.

You dont get Ekblad, but you get Draisaitl at 3. Just because its not 1st or 2nd overall doesnt mean the odds of getting a good player aren't higher than at 12-16...

We see every single year how hard it is to move up in the draft into the top 5, theres a reason for that...
Just saying theres a ton of value even if the pick isnt 1st...
