Then make a case for picking 2nd if you don't win the lottery and pick 1st. There's a reason your list of players stopped at the 2nd overall pick both times. Why didnt you continue with 3rd-5th as was your premise?
Jonathan Drouin, Seth Jones and Elias Lindholm didn't hammer home the point you were trying to make?
The most talent is at the top of the draft, the very top. Once you're out of that 1-2 range you typically have great talent but needs work. Outside of that it just keeps dropping. Stop pretending that the best way of getting potential star players isn't drafting at the top of the draft. Hell even that isn't a guarantee, but it's the best bet.
Trying to sneak in picks theee four and fifth overall to make your point is just ruins the credibility of your argument
