It's not a work ethic thing, it's that Huska's "it worked in the WHL" system doesn't work in the NHL. Being ultra passive against an NHL team gives them time to make plays and it makes you look brutal and them look awesome.

The Oilers weak spot is their defense. Flames are the most passive team in the NHL when it comes to forechecking, slowing the rush and defending the neutral zone. They make average players look like Bobby Orr on the rush.

The cherry on top is the Flames don't even pretend to defend the blue line against even man rushes, they just keep backing up, hoping for a shot, save and turnover.

Huska's system may have worked in the WHL where the opposition makes more mistakes and has less skill than an NHL team, but it's putrid at this level and won't win regularly without Vezina quality goaltending.

Maybe he can fail upwards again and be the next GM.
