All those trades had contract extensions a with them. Stone and Pacioretty were first line players and Jones was a top pair Dman. Will Andersson who has been a first pairing Dman at times warrant that return if he signs? I sure hope so but am not setting my expectations that high.

Sure I was responding to a report that the Sharks were interested in Rasmus if he signed an extension, which is the exact same as half the situations I cited where former top picks were traded shortly after they were picked.
Pacioretty was a 60 point a year forward. The year before he was traded he was 137th amongst NHL forwards for points per game. In a 31 team league that made him a second line player.
Rasmus this year is 22nd amongst dman in PPG. At least in terms of offensive production that makes him a top 2 dman minimum.
As for the busts it probably speaks more to how much prospects are overvalued in some parts vis-a-vis players that actually have a proven ability to produce in the NHL. Most prospects are busts, having 67% bust out is not exactly unheard of.
