Best sub $800, brand name (ie not Acer) laptop out there at a physical store right now?

Dell has Inspirions for $499...that would probably be the best deal by far, but far too impulsive to wait.

I was browsing and was ready to pull the trigger on an HP at Best Buy for $799...but thought I would sleep on it and do some research. Saw a open box for $100 less, but it was a previous model with Intel chip, not the AMD.
Very minmial standards 1GB Ram. 14.1 or 15.4 screen at most. Just for fooling around, obviously.

If no other suggestions help me pick between these:
Toshiba is 15.4
