Looking at who the Canucks would be rebuilding around, you've got:

Forwards:
1. Jonathan Lekkerimaki (21);
2. Braeden Cootes (18);
3. Marco Rossi (24);
4. Nils Hoglander (24);
5. Aatu Ray (23)
6. Liam Ohgren (21)

Defensemen:
1. Zeev Buium (20);
2. Tom Wilander (20);
3. Elias Pettersson (21);
4. Victor Mancini (23);
5. Sawyer Minio (20);
6. Kirill Kudryavtsev (21)

Goalie - Aleksei Medvedev (18)

If you're about to sell off all your assets and tank for two years to rebuild, that's a much better place to start from than most teams that get forced into doing so... Basically they are thin at forward but have a few guys who have a decent shot at being top 6 players but probably not all-star level guys, while being very deep at defense but without anyone besides Buium who has a good shot at all-star level play, and have one goalie prospect of any note. They desperately need a top 3 pick to spend on a center, and need to get lucky enough to have a goalie prospect hit, but it's all possible.

They should be looking to pump up value on anyone over 25 to the greatest extent possible - Boeser, DeBrusk, Pettersson, Garland, Sherwood, anyone else - and then trading them for picks or prospects from the 2021 draft or later. If they do, they could have a successful accelerated rebuild and be in good shape by 2027-2028, which is when the Oliver Ekman-Larsson buyout (which is on the books until 2030, Jesus Christ what a total disaster) goes from a 4.7M dead cap hit down to only 2M.

I seriously doubt that they will do that, though, because ownership never seems to be willing to sacrifice even one season much less two.
