The Canucks identified what they needed to do and did it. Everyone wants to win a Cup every season, but the Canucks knew that wasn't happening any time soon and got the absolute best haul they could have. Kudos to them.

Their best player...probably 2nd best player ever said he wanted out at 26. This is the pushback, this wasn't some master rebuild plan it was a total failure of management. They have been trading firsts for vets and rentals for the last few years including trading a 2025 first. I promise you they would have kept Hughes if he didn't tell them he was out. (as would any team)
I think Hughes playing for poorly managed Vancouver has soured him a bit for fans...he is right there with the best players in the NHL, neck and neck with Makar. There are probably 5 guys in the league that can take over games like him.
