Yeah I think Deerfoot Meadows is throwing out the fishing line a bit with promoting that high end stuff, with nothing confirmed actually in there yet.
People expecting Prada and Burberry store may end up getting Esprit and FCUK.
There may be BMW and Infiniti across the road, there's also a Chrysler and a Ford Dealership next to them, a few used car dealers up the hill behind Costco too.
I'll agree with the poster that said those sort of high end places don't fit well (I've never seen them, anyways, in the US) into the mega power centre concept, no matter how they want to dress it up to look like an outdoor version of the Shoppes at Caesars in Vegas or not.
That said, an small, indoor upscale mall with those stores, now that may be an idea that has better merit to attract true high end luxury item related stores such as clothing stores, the Rolex and Omega dealers etc. I've seen, such as in Anaheim and in Phoenix, there are open air higher end outdoor walking malls with these types of stores...but this is Calgary, that until Starbucks comes up with a fully insultated thermal body suit that delivers coffee intravenously, Ms. Snotty Nose will book a flight to Palm Springs and shop at Burberry there long before she gets out her Land Rover in mid Febuary to trapse through a biting north wind blowing through that flat stretch of swampland to get to the Burberry store here.
