Parekh played his entire D+1 year as an 18-year old Defenseman in the OHL, at a 1.75 PPG pace. He also had a slow start, with only 14 points in his first 15 games. This means he played his final 56 games at a 2.02 PPG pace.
There is nothing crazy about the notion of taking Parekh over Iginla even if we had the chance, and thus far Iginla's D+1 (technically D+2) season is not even close to Parekh's (actual) D+1.

The fact that Zayne has better numbers breaks any tie, especially considering the position. Who knows in 5 years but one is certainly more rare.
There is a time and place for complaining about "meaningless wins" but it wasn't in the final few games of that season. I bet the Avs are happy they won some meaningless games and drafted Makar. Sometimes you get lucky.
