The whole discourse over are they rebuilding or not is how they might be going about doing it. No one is saying they are not in transition. It is just more around the thought they got off to a historically bad start to their season so will they lean into the bad year and sell off more vets than they planned in order to stay at the bottom of the standings vs trying to compete while they sell off pending free agents and continue to leave room for younger players to make the team. There is absolutely a different direction under Conroy vs Treliving where younger players are getting more of a chance and pending free agents are being turned into picks and prospects.

The article on SN today about the Flames and Canucks being at the bottom with the Preda. That article points out the Preds and Canucks have told the rest of the league they are open for business but the Flames have not.

Do the Flames lean into the bad year and trade their 34-35 year old veterans or does their 2-9-2 start that is slowly being erased by a 9-6-2 run lead them out of the top 5 picks to somewhere in the 6-16 range?

I am looking forward to finding out
