I don’t know if you can have too strict or defined standards. Ultimately it’s always going to be somewhat subjective.
But better standards and a better process than they have now would be very much welcome.
I absolutely want to see the 12 best and 12 most deserving team teams. I have no real desire to watch a group of five team get destroyed every single year.
That’s kind of besides the point of the issue. The current issue is that the committee are a complete farce and have no idea what they’re doing week to week. They’re picking teams that they want to see play based on ratings and conference affiliation rather than the, albeit highly flawed, standards and process that they currently have.
The fact that they applied different standards to different teams and completely ####ed up their process by rearranging teams who didn’t even play so that they could do favours for certain conferences is ####ing stupid.
At this point it doesn’t even matter if they picked the right team teams. The problem is with how they did it.
