I've always thought that's weird. I trade professionally for an income (as an employee). I sometimes put some of my "work trades" on with my own money (requires boss permission) but when I retire I'm not going to sit in front of my screens making sure all my option greeks are balanced anymore.
I'll have a portfolio of quality compounder type businesses (moving that way already) and spend my time volunteering, travelling, hiking, reading, and playing chess.
I definitely won't take up some other profession on an amateur basis...
