He's 26, playing in his 7th season, on pace for 45 points while getting some pretty good ice time including decent PP time.

He's the poster child for a top centre on a last place team.

That's not to say he's a bad player, as he's not, but he's simply taking up space until Calgary gets some better players.

But on a good team, he's bottom 6 getting 25-30 points.

The last poster says he's a bridge to the next core, which is a perfect description. By the time Calgary is contending for a playoff spot, he's likely gone or playing bottom 6 minutes.

As long as he's playing top minutes, Calgary is likely a bottom feeder.

It was a good trade, as Calgary needs some players who can contribute to some degree until their prospect base expands and develops.

But it's unlikely he'll ever be part of the Flame's core fighting for a playoff spot.
