When I was looking for a new wallet after my last one started looking like hell, I did this:
Step 1. Go here, sorted by Price - Low to High and added "Men's" as a search term (link already does this).
Step 2. Browsed until I found something I liked that was in nice shape and wasn't exorbitantly expensive for what it was.

The high-end brands use high-quality hides, but there is no way in hell I'm paying what they want brand new, and the local second-hand market is still too much. The Japanese second-hand market is where the deals are to be had -- I bring this up with second-hand watches too; Japan rules for this stuff.

I picked up a really nice vintage LV men's bi-fold wallet with an ID window and a zipper for $220 and a mint condition Hermes Copernic bi-fold for $250 (which is a $2,200 wallet brand new). The LV has only the tiniest little logo imprint on the corner so you can't tell from a glance, and the Hermes has no branding other than the print on the inside, so they thankfully aren't attention-drawing, but you get really good hide and construction.

If it's something you're gonna keep a long time (and I do), it's a great option.
