I've watched Chappelle's last few specials and, frankly, they were not my jam, so I'm not forking out cash for that.
He can say whatever he wants but if I know that its not for me then I'm not going to pay to go see him.
Theres lots of other comics that suit my tastes more.
And on Chappelle, I largely agree. I find that he's gotten too big for his own good and again, you're right, its not funny. So I dont go.
I think his last Netflix special I didn't even get a chuckle out of and that was essentially free, I'm not going to haul my ass downtown at $300 a seat for that.
Some comics lose it and some stick and twist, for me Chappelle has lost it. The Trans 'jokes' for instance, I dont find those funny, so even though they're just jokes I dont have to pay to hear them.

If the prices were more reasonable I would absolutely see Chappelle live because, as I said before, that's a bucket list level of performer to see, even if I think the quality has taken a hit.
His aura doesn't justify the cost.
