He probably should have been signed to a full 5 year contract 2 years ago when he was hired. I think 5 years is an appropriate term for a GM to implement a plan, make changes, and then have a fair evaluation. Considering the state of the team when Conroy took over, I don't think it was reasonable to expect 3 years to be long enough to judge. Not that I would expect the team to be a full on contender 5 years past his hiring date, but within 5 years the direction should start to materialize.
So all in all, I don't think a 2 year extension taking him to July 2028 is bad. At that point, if the team is showing progress, he should deserve a longer extension.
