For many teams, the definition is consistent playoff success and challenging for the championship.
It is clear that the brain trust of the Flames view success as making the playoffs. By that marker, they see themselves as generally successful and intend to get back to this status soon.
For a fan of this team, this is disappointing.
The actions of this team over the next 7 months will determine whether I want to continue supporting them going forward.

This is the saddest part. The Flames have 12 playoff appearances in 30 years with many of those appearances being first round exits. People like to talk about a "winning" culture. Winning is not culture. The Flames culture that influences everything they do is believing that just getting in the playoffs is enough. That has sadly resulted in abysmal decisions and much more losing than winning.
