I mean that in a genuine hockey fashion. You and I have been debating things in a circle for a few years now, and the results have borne out. The path the Flames have been on for 3 years has not been a succesful road.
Had the Flames taken a more proactive approach/pivot, we would have a strong prospect pool and be better equipped to compete moving forward.
I ask genuinely, and preface it with the fact clearly both you and I love this silly team, what are your hopes for the team?
Steinberg and Francis weighed in pretty heavily on Friday and spoke to the general dissatisfaction growing in the fan base over the lack of general organizational success in the modern era - and both seemed to agree that it has always been about just getting into the playoffs, and doing everything right now to make that possible (as in, they haven't rebuilt). I find it odd to see as many die hards as I have pivot from "they're not going to rebuild, and rebuilding doesn't yield results - look at Edmonton and Buffalo" to "they've been rebuilding all along, their actions have shown it". There doesn't seem to be a logical through line in conversation anymore. Further to that, no one of right-mind has ever though that rebuilding is a sure-fire Stanley Cup, we have always understood that there's plenty that has to go right between drafting at the top and actually raising the Cup at the end.
