To me, that says he's looking to make a "now" trade. There are creative ways of getting better picks. Weaponizing cap space by bringing back expiring contracts, mulit-team deals, etc.

Well short of trading Rasmus for Stamkos and Nashville’s 1st there are not a lot of ways to weaponize the cap space and get a pick that is not in the 20-32 range. Not many teams are going to trade for Rasmus who are not comfortably in the playoffs.
