A few points from me (a nobody):
1) For those who hate Eric Francis, this is why we need more poop disturbers in the media. He kept at it as much as he could. To me that was really good journalism instead of letting go early.
2) Don Maloney is the President. For those asking why Conroy isn't there, it's because Maloney answers to ownership and really is the voice of ownership.
3) To me all he's saying here is they don't want to officially announce it as a tank this year. They simply want to have guys compete instead of calling it a day in favour of the tank. He really didn't sell it in the fans favour. He could/should have said that we want a team that competes, and we'll see where we are. Instead he said that in the most roundabout way. Seems unnecessary.
4) He did say they're looking for a competitive team for the new building, so there's that.
5) He did kinda insult McKenna unnecessarily without wanting to, I'm sure.
6) To say fans will turn their back on the team if they rebuild, is indeed a bit of a slap to the fanbases. Terrible if they truly think that. People can stand by hope and talent. I'm again glad that Francis pushed it to him.
