End of the day it comes down to how many changes they make this year and what type. We all know Andersson is on his way out but who else? Do they hold onto Kadri and Coleman? People are concerned that is their plan. To run it back or try and win with this group next year.

Last year’s season skewed the direction for fans and I think they are worried the team thinks they are closer than they are. The reported reluctance from ownership to trade 35 year old players fuels narratives that have some validity (otherwise they wouldn’t be so widely believed)

So you have some fans who are totally spooked and others who are looking at it as a plan being executed and a decent amount who are unsure what is going on. The Flames haven’t made any moves to suggest they are in it to win it but fans want to see older assets flipped for futures and not just the UFA.

If Kadri gets traded the fanbase will have a better idea of the direction. It is very important Conroy gets that deal right and despite what some fans want that is not today.
This is totally it, and it was a great point made on the barnburner cast. They can lean in and optimize this rebuild, or they can make unnecessary mistakes like failing to maximize returns for aging assets -- which could do more to create a prolonged Buffalo type situation they desperately want to avoid.

And its not like this franchise hasn't hung on to old players too long before.
I think everyone just wants to see some indication that this team indeed knows what it needs to do and has the resolve to do it.
