I will say even though I am very negative in my posts, I have a lot of confidence in Conroy as a GM. I actually have liked a lot of what he has done. The Lindholm and Markstrom trades were great in particular.
I also don't think he is stupid, he knows this isn't a quick fix. Where my concern lies is with whether he actually has full autonomy to make the moves necessary. I am not a fan at all of Murray Edwards, but at the same time I know he is not an idiot either. My concern with him comes with the new rink. Is he going to be willing to sit through a rebuild when he knows it will be harder to justify charging higher prices without a playoff team.
The other issue is how long is the rebuild going to be... is Murray fine with a 2 year rebuild? A 3 year? A 5 year? It will take a several years to become a playoff team again and I think he knows this.
While most of the fanbase knows what needs to happen for us to become a contender, a lot of this is all dependent on ownership. Which is frustrating as a fan, as I believe we have a very, very good GM. Who could make some really great moves here if he's given the chance.
