I think it’s pretty evident that a trade is imminent for this team and while it might not happen even in the next month you know come January there will be some movement. Having more warm bodies in this situation really doesn’t hurt and I think creating even more competition in the lineup for the Sharangovich, Klapka, Lomberg type players in the lineup isn’t a bad thing and is almost necessary for a team that could potentially be trading as much players as we could be trading this year.
Being bent out of shape over adding a 24 YO, 6’3, 220 lb center who has two almost full seasons under his belt and a damn good percentage in face offs for free is an odd position to take. Nothing to be upset about here, worst case scenario he’s on waivers again, best case scenario we land a player for free who’s in the age range of the young core we are attempting to establish.
Remember when we were all bent out of shape in Johnnys 2nd last year?? When he looked like a shell of his former self but then proceeded to blow our collective flames fan minds with his 115 point season? Am I comparing any of our players to that type of ark or even Johnny himself? I’m not, but what I’m trying to get at is hockey is a strange sport, and if you get the right collection of players teams can do remarkable things. It heartens me to see as a fan, at least from my perspective, that the Flames are and have been establishing an approach to this rebuild (shhhh!!!) an approach that seems to take the the future look of this team past their current season into consideration.
