Well, with privacy settings, etc. Facebook gives you the opportunity to re-connect with those you want, and stay relatively anonymous to those you'd like to keep out of your life.

I recently joined and have re-connected with highschool friends I haven't spoken to in over 10 years... junior high and elementary friends I haven't heard from in over 13 years.

Facebook makes these types of re-connections much, much easier. Especially for some one like myself who was raised in Calgary, but ended up moving all over the place after highschool.

EDIT: I do agree with those who hate the over-doing of the applications though... there are people who have like 40+ different applications on their page... what for??!!
