Like last time, we lucked out having a late pick turn into a star. Last time Johnny, this time Wolf.

We still need to draft the Monahan, Bennett and Tkachuk equivalents. So this year is the first top pick and we will probably need a couple more.

Depending on how the last few years of drafted players works out, CC may still have to make some home run trades to round out the roster without using up all the team’s cap space.

Because of Huby and Yegor, it’s not quite a blank slate.
It's weird seeing people say year 3 of a rebuild. I guess it depends on how you classify a rebuild. I agree we are one season into a half measured rebuild.

By half measured I mean not trading Anderrson when we had the chance last deadline. Or Kadri (although you can make an argument on the no trade clause). We didn't re sign any of the expiring contracts but I don't know if that really means you are officially rebuilding, especially if you offered them all contracts and they declined.

At the same time they tried to add some pieces in Farabee and Frost. Typically you wouldn't make this type of trade in a rebuild because on paper it did make us better. And I think helped lead to more points last year.

When they make a proactive move to trade a vet like Kadri who still has term on his contract or Coleman then I will call that the beginning of a full rebuild. But I do agree you can make an argument that it has been 1 year of a rebuild. It's just not a full rebuild currently, it is a half measured rebuild in my opinion.
