I don't know what is wrong with your furnace specifically but I can say that in some cases, older furnaces can be gold. I have a few older furnaces and a repair and maintain strategy can be really beneficial and even lower cost overall in the long term. Newer furnaces will be more energy efficient but may have higher costs over the longer term with more expensive, electronic related repairs and reduced lifespans.
