Yeah I think there is nuance in how that it was framed.

When it's a UFA and they are saying "we want to keep him here, etc" that makes sense because you're trying to navigate the risk of walking a player to UFA, especially for players with NTC's where there might be limited trade partners.

If it was worded as "Conroy and management loves Kadri, Kadri doesn't want to be traded, Kadri loves the city, look how the fan base embraced him" etc etc then I'd say that's more just the normal lip service about the team not wanting to trade the player.

It being worded so strongly as Murray Edwards loves Kadri is what makes me think this might be a bit different than the normal lip service you see in these scenarios.
