Also Trump on Air Force One this morning saying that he has no interest in speaking to Carney at the moment, and that they're happy with the "deal they have now" with Canada and will probably just let that run, whatever that means. I assume he's talking about CUSMA, which is currently set to expire in 2036.

The reality is Trump doesn't want 'trade talks' he demands 'trade lie down and take it' and Canada/Carney to it's credit has refused to just sign what ever Trump presents us, mostly because we have always know the US is a really crappy trade partner and was long before Dorrito Trumpallini took power, we can't afford to tie ourselves to a rubbish trade deal that will last long after Trump has stroked out
Trump is just trying to frighten Canada into doing what he wants, we have the dubious advantage that the shear quantity of trade between the two countries means it hurts the US as well when he tries to hurt Canada, effectively this is a labour dispute and Canada is on strike
