Buffalo continues to make deals where they are putting huge value in players that are ready or playing over picks and prospects. This is killing them as the returns are always bad.
At some point, they need to be looking to add they best assets and then wait for the right opportunity to add better NHL ready players with the additional assets.
Norris is gone long term, Cozens deal sure looks good for Ottawa now.
Eichel return is a bust considering how good Eichel is.
If they trade Thompson and Dahlin, they need to load up on picks and prospects. They will get a star with their own pick, but they could get someone of value that becomes available with the extra assets. Just need to wait on the right player. Maybe if they had a ton of extra picks they could have got McTavish. Draft day, maybe they could have made a run at SJ for Misa. They need to stop taking crap returns trying to stay competitive.
I was telling a buddy that I think they Flames should make a run at Thompson. Hopefully he becomes available and Buffalo sticks with their typical trade patterns and takes on players over picks.
