Dallas is willing to consider trading Robertson to reset their cap. They are not trading him to get about $16M + in older assets. They would want a guy like Coronato to headline the deal.
And I ccan’t imagine why Robertson is signing an extension with Calgary, unless it’s a huge payday like Kaprizov.
Getting Robertson and dumping Huberdeau the same time?

Huberdeau just put up 28 goals. That is easily in the "good" range for someone making $8.5M under the new cap structure. He would be costing them 30% less than Rantanen and half the cost of Kaprizov.
Dallas could ask for Coronato instead but then the Flames pull everything else off of the table and then instead of 3 players and $20M in value they get a 1:1 trade and miss out on the one asset they originally wanted: Andersson.
Also, I am not sure I would do a 1:1 trade between Robertson and Coronato. Robertson might be better but Coronato might be better. We simply do not know yet as Coronato is just getting started but I feel pretty good about him being able to make it to 30+ goals and he is cost controlled for 6 years more than Robertson.
My hot take is that I think the contract situation make Coronato more valuable than Robertson.

Trade him for younger and cheaper assets, which is the reason he was being shopped in the first place.

What younger, cheaper first line LW and top 4 RD options do you think exist on the same team and are available to trade to the Stars in a single transaction? Name one team able to make a package that looks like that and then maybe you will have a point.
There are only 32 teams to look at, so it shouldn't be too hard to check them all and see that package is hard to put together. They might be able to get a 1:1 deal between Robertson and a younger LW with load of upside but I doubt you can get that top 4 RD out of any of those teams.
