So, Mews actually had two assists taken away. He was initially credited with an assist on Hage's first goal as well. The video was pretty clear that it wasn't.
I've never seen his junior games, so this is my first viewings. I see why Flames should be excited about him. Regardless of points, Mews was very impactful on this game. There were scouting reports from his draft year that he should be more offensive but is hesitant to activate. I didn't see that at all. I saw a mobile offensive defenseman who moves the puck well, is frequently up in the play, often in the circles or between the hash marks in the O-zone. The Wolverines PP runs through him. The Wolverines had Seamus Casey 2 years ago, and Luke Hughes the year before that, but didn't have anyone like that last year, and it showed. That won't be a problem this season.
