Kirkland is also 22/35 in the shootout in the AHL. He's a legitimate specialist.
I think you're over thinking this as both historical data and recent results for the Flames all suggest Kadri is actually rather bad at the shootout. 8th place was right for him last night, and he'll likely get moved up the order next time as a result of his goal.
