The answer is not this century. The Blackhawks won 3 times in 5 seasons, and that team was on another level in terms of depth as well. You'd have to go all the way back to Detroit in the 90s and again they were on a different planet as a team. Confident in saying this 2 man show in Edmonton isn't bucking the trend with that embarrassing support cast behind them.
Yzerman's Detroit lost their first trip to the cup, dropped a year then won twice, dropped 3 years before a last win, it is hard to think of any team that strong due to the once in a lifetime addition of the Russians ever happening again, even within that era they were incredibly lucky to put that lineup together, Detroit being about the furthest East of the Western Conference teams didn't hurt either
