Don't take everything so literal and learn to read between the lines.
You know damn well that I and everyone knows he signed a two year extension and has one year left of his current contract. But only one of those two years the Oilers don't have to worry about re-signing him again which is what the people Manhattanboy are referring to are talking about even though he didn't literally sign a one year extension.
