Framing it as “getting bent over” sure isn’t helping. They took risk and maintenance on, as well as storage, test drives, etc… and they need to make profit. It’s just understanding that. Selling it yourself is more of a financial bonus, selling to a dealer isn’t a screw job…

Yeah, I've used dealers to get rid of my last few used cars, and this is important. The thing is...if I need to get maintenance done, I'm paying retail on parts and shop rate on repairs.
If the dealer has to take care of those, no shop rate, wholesale on parts and they're paying some guy bare minimum to fix it, something that might cost me $5k to put into a sellable state would cost them ~$1K and they take on all the responsibility, sometimes even offer limited warranties on work...I cant do any of that.
