The big corporate trend of 2025 isn’t outsourcing, it’s return-to-office mandates. Most companies have gone to 3-4 days in office minimum, and many have returned to full in-office.
So no, companies haven’t responded to employees favouring WFH with outsourcing - they’ve responded by mandating they return to the office. They can do it now because we’re in a very loose labour market, and employees have no option but to suck it up and go back to commutes and cube farms. And if some employees don’t like it and choose to quit rather than RTO, that’s a feature not a bug, because it allows companies gearing up for a recession to shed payroll without paying severance (aka “quiet firing”).
