Canada has (apparently…) a big demographics problem and the cost of said problem with our aging population will be hugely expensive. The US gov would inherit that gigantic cost and so the cost of taking over Canada ain’t worth it.
Definitely had a bit of a tone of- but don’t kid yourselves Canada, if your resources were ever at threat of not being (essentially, via trade) beholden to the USA- the USA would immediately step in. I’m definitely sort of ad libbing / reading between the lines / providing my own thoughts though on this last paragraph.
Americans definitely view Canadian resources as essentially theirs.

I saw Zeihan speak several months ago and his point on Canada was essentially that the US already gets everything they want from us anyway. There is no need to have us as a state, because there is nothing to be gained.
