You really don't know what you're talking about. Persistent, chronic infections can occur with respiratory viruses. It happens with COVID and that is theorized to be one of the primary mechanisms for mutations. There are documented cases of people who've had active COVID infections for 2 years straight, as their body is unable to clear it.
Is that the case with any of these stupid ostriches? You can't really know without doing a bunch of regular PCR tests and hoping for the best, but that's not viable or cost effective for taxpayers to be funding that, nor is it responsible. There's reason why it's standard protocol (and indeed a requirement under Canadian trade agreements) to destroy a flock when avian flu is discovered in it.
