Was he? The guy was a 3rd round pick for a reason and those defensive inefficiencies never went away. His production was good, just outside of the top ten for D in the AHL. There's plenty of players who've been waived due to eligibility at this age and went on to have NHL careers. We tend to put way too much attention on waivers. There's always guys that go on to have good careers despite the waivers eligibility. Eeli Tolvanen, Gustav Forsling, etc have been on waivers in recent years.
