Looking for some info here except not US related, but in Costa Rica.
I’m looking at buying a piece of land and building a property on it for the purposes of airbnb for a while and eventually to snowbird there in retirement. Has anyone done this before?
I’ve been researching the legalities and tax implications of foreign ownership and it seems relatively simple. The tentative plan is to open a Costa Rican company and own the house under that for liability and inheritance reasons. It will be entirely paid in cash so that’s easily dealt with.
I’m wondering if anyone has general advice (good lawyer, ensure it’s a titled property, water / electrical hook ups available) or any advice in exchanging a large quantity of CAD into a different currency. Shpanks
