On my 4th one now, and can confirm. 99.9% of people don't care. For me the .1% is random teens/car dudes giving a "nice car bro", or (a bit more surprisingly) the occasional boomer woman chatting it up at the gas station. But that's it. And no obvious signs of jealousy or stink eye...the closest I ever got was a few weird looks from truck bros while driving through remote North Dakota....but they were probably wondering what some random NY-plated Cayman was doing there in the first place.
Maybe back in the day, when Porsche
only made sports cars, they were more special...but now you not only have more of those, you also have dozens of daily sightings of Cayennes and Macans that muddle down that brand mystique. I think in general, these days we're all so inundated with luxury and billionaires/high spenders on social media or whatever, that even the Ferrari's and Lambos of the world don't really raise an eyebrow. Same goes for your fancy Rolex, LV bags, whatever...
Anybody who stops themselves from buying their dream car because of what other strangers think, is wasting their time. Nobody cares...people are too lost in their own world. Drive what makes you happy.
