I had really bad luck with Shaw and Shaw resellers at my current house and last one as well. Can-com's service was great, but they couldn't do anything about the terrible cable infrastructure so my internet service was really flaky.
Made the switch to Telus fibre a few months ago and it was a significant improvement. Also got a decent deal by reaching out to one of the reps on redflagdeals for better pricing than I could get ordering through the Telus website.
