The team has a lot of quiet leaders (Backlund, though he sure likes to drop an f-bomb, Weegar, Huberdeau, etc). Lomberg is the guy speaking up and injecting positivity every game.
I wouldn't be in a hurry to send that guy packing, particularly if the return is no more than a 3rd at best.

I am completely in the same boat with you in regards to Lomberg. I appreciated his energy during his 1st stint in Calgary but I thought players of his style are extinct. I was only looking at one facet of his game - fighting.
I appreciated him in Florida because he was part of the team that beat the Oilers in 2024. Then he signed with Calgary again and I thought "Why do we need him?".
He showed how valuable he is to the team and he showed me that he isn't just here to throw punches at people. He brings so much energy and is a good leader and influence on the young guys looking to make a name for themselves. You only git rid of a guy like that if he wants out or you have more than one.
