I do wonder if proximity to adversaries is being considered - if North Korea were to wake up extra cranky one day and attack the South - both construction and ongoing support would be compromised.
It'd be interesting to see if the average Canadian sailor physically fits into a Korean designed sub comfortably. I seem to recall other Asian platforms (Japanese ships?) that were rejected in years past due to this issue.
