Players do request trades, but most of the time more money can fix the problem. The fact that a guy like Parsons got traded vs being extended is unusual.
But all teams are U.S. based and really the Eagles, Chiefs, and 49'ers have been in the Superbowl for 5 of the last 6 years. So in 6 years only 6 teams have made the Superbowl. Go back 2 before that and you only add the Patriots to that list. So once teams get the upper hand they dominate there too.

In the NFL, you can have a team in KC and dominate. Any city has a chance. Buffalo is a top team in the NFL.
NHL players just don't seem to sign with certain teams no matter how good the team is. Carolina is a prime example of a team that builds a contender every year but can't keep Rantanen.
Minnesota is on the road to be an elite team, then Kap turns down $16M a year. It probably is a blessing, but this changes the plan in Minnesota and sets them back 2-3 years just because he does not want to live there.
Why does Josh Allen want to live in Buffalo?
NHL players sure seem to pick the city over winning. But when teams can cheat the cap and add and add, why not all play in Vegas?
